Civic data

Public transport, air quality, municipal budgets. Bengaluru's open data portal is a mess and that is the point of the track.

Hardware

Bring a microcontroller, we bring sensors, a soldering bench and someone who knows what a pull-up resistor is for.

Accessibility

Judged with disabled testers in the room. If your demo cannot be driven by a screen reader it will not score, and we say so now rather than on Sunday.

Wildcard

Anything. Historically the wildcard track produces both the best project and the four worst, which is exactly the distribution we want.

Rules, and the reasons for them

Can I bring existing code?+

A repo skeleton, a design system, and any open-source library. Not a half-finished product with the hackathon feature bolted on — we have disqualified two teams for this and both times it was obvious to everyone in the room.

Do I need a team?+

No. About 70 of the 200 arrive alone and team-forming from 09:00 to 10:30 is a real part of the schedule, not a networking euphemism. Teams cap at four.

Is it free?+

Free to attend, ₹500 refundable deposit to hold your place, returned when you check in. No-shows cost us about ₹1,400 in catering each, which is why the deposit exists.

Who owns what we build?+

You do, entirely. Sponsors get to look, not to license. If a sponsor wants to hire you or fund you afterwards that is between you and them, and we stay out of it.

Can I sleep there?+

There is a quiet floor with mats from 23:00, and we will not stop you. We would rather you went home and slept properly — the Sunday demos from the teams that slept are consistently better and we have the scores to prove it.

What about accessibility?+

Step-free throughout, a low-stimulus room, live captioning on all stage content, and dietary requirements handled properly. Tell us on the form and someone will confirm the specifics with you personally.
